Google Cloud NEXT London is the annual flagship event for Google Cloud – a global exhibition of inspiration, innovation and education. Designed to help shape the future of the cloud, the event brings together industry pioneers for an itinerary of keynotes, breakout sessions, codelabs, training – and the opportunity to network with Googlers and their partner ecosystem. In 2018, we were given the creative reigns, empowering us to create a fun-filled, distinctly Google world that truly encapsulated the spirit of the brand. We needed to hit on their key objectives whilst also delivering their biggest event in EMEA to date; providing delegates with the ultimate Google experience whilst making them feel part of the Google community, maximising partner exposure and ensuring everybody left with a deep-level understanding and elevated opinion of Google Cloud-based products and solutions.
We needed to hit the right balance between serious and playful, encouraging and facilitating different levels of conversation.
We wanted to bring the fun side of Google to life but also allow for important networking to take place, ensuring attendees could easily tailor the experience to suit their needs. Using the NEXT strap-line “It takes a village” and the community mentality behind this ethos, we created our own city within the ExCeL. Riding with a London theme, the design of the space created a thriving city environment peppered with nods to our capital's culture, such as chill out and networking zones named after London parks, stages named after London theatres and even a double-decker bus and black taxi inside the venue.
We brought the Google Cloud brand to life for a record 16,000+ delegates – the largest audience Google has ever hosted in EMEA.
Designing and executing a unique environment of activations and content, we showcased the technology in a captivating, user-friendly and engaging way. The interactive conference enabled delegates to choose from 110+ hours of content and 270+ speakers. Keynote speeches were followed by delegates moving freely between 8 breakout stages, and the 65 brand partner stands; while business owners who already use Google Cloud Platform were present to advise attendees and show the tech in action.
The team worked against the clock to design and produce Google Cloud’s largest ever flagship event.
Alongside the main plenary we created eight additional breakouts all showcasing unique content, multiple Google Cloud Showcases, an industry zone, and Leaders Circle (a 400+ executive-level VIP programme in a bespoke area, Soho Square). We also managed three different evening events at ExCeL and across London: the onsite NEXTIVAL with headline act Basement Jaxx; a premium evening party at the National Maritime Museum; and a pre-event 750 person session for Partners with it's own offsite networking reception at Giant Robot.
